Retail bookseller Barnes & Noble plans to open five new locations in the Chicago area this year, including a store at a former Walgreens in Wicker Park. Barnes & Noble is leasing the entire 26,133-square-foot space at the iconic building that was once home to Noel Street Bank at 1601 N. Milwaukee Avenue, reported Crain’s.
The Wicker Park location will open along with locations at 651 W. Diversey Parkway in Lincoln Park, the Village Square of Northbrook and at Prairie Market Shopping Center in Oswego. Another location for the Town Square Shopping Center in Schererville, Indiana, is also planned.
“Barnes & Noble is experiencing a period of tremendous growth right now, and we are opening stores across the country,” Barnes & Noble spokesperson Janine Flanigan said in a statement. The retail bookseller has other Chicago-area locations in Skokie, Schaumburg, Deer Park, Algonquin, Vernon Hills, Oak Brook, Bolingbrook, Geneva, Orland Park and Joliet.
Connect Industrial Midwest 2024 will take place on March 5, 2024, at Joe’s Live in Rosemont, Illinois. Click here for more information and to register.
