Connecticut-based transportation company XPO Inc. is planning a new 180,000-square-foot truck freight development on about 45 undeveloped acres in Shawnee, Kansas.
The potential site is located just off KS Highway 7 near an Amazon facility, the Bonner Springs Industrial Park and the Heartland Logistics Park. XPO wants the city to rezone the site from an agricultural plot to a planned industrial zoning district.
The company wants to build a 152,236-square-foot truck terminal and a 31,685-square-foot maintenance building. The project would include Kansas City-based contractor Miller Stauch Construction Co., Overland Park-based Davidson Architecture + Engineering, Olsson and Verdigris Studio Midwest, reported the Kansas City Business Journal.
In addition to the new Shawnee development, XPO will purchase 26 service centers and assume existing leases for the two locations previously operated by Yellow Corporation, which filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in August.
