Mustang Properties was all set to proceed with plans for a 140-room Ft. Lauderdale hotel, until they weren’t. The developers now want to reduce the number of hotel rooms to 81 and include 17 luxury condos, and add two stories to increase the height to 12 stories.

The Whitfield Hotel broke ground in 2022 on the 0.45-acre site at 1007 East Las Olas Blvd. The group poured the foundation for the ground floor, until they stopped to revise the plans. To proceed, the team needs approval from the town’s planning board.

The standard condos would range from 1,500 to 2,400 square feet, plus there would be a pair of penthouses, measuring 5,500 and 6,000 square feet. Condos will be priced at $2,500 per square foot.

The condo owners would share amenities with the hotel, including a large spa, a rooftop pool and a rooftop café. However, there would be a separate condo lobby and no short-term rentals would be allowed.

Stiles Construction is the contractor.
