Children’s Health and UT Southwestern Medical Center are planning a $5 billion pediatric health campus in the Southwestern Medical District.
The 33-acre complex will replace the existing Children’s Medical Center Dallas, which is at Harry Hines Boulevard and Medical District Drive and will remain open while the new facility is under construction a little over a mile away at Harry Hines and Mockingbird Lane. The new facility will be adjacent to William P. Clements Jr. University Hospital, and the two will be connected by an elevated walkway.
The new campus will span 5 million square feet, with 2 million square feet of hospital construction across two 12-story towers and a single eight-story tower. Construction could begin later this year and be completed in 2031.
The new hospital would have 552 beds, a 38% increase from the current hospital, plus room to expand. The emergency department and operating room space would also be increased by double-digit percentages.
