Baptist Health South Florida has received plan approval from the city of Sunrise to build a 100-bed, $500 million hospital. The 340,000-square-foot facility will rise seven stories. An adjacent 37,000-square-foot medical office building is also included in the venture. The South Florida Business Journal reports the project will be developed on 26 acres at 12401 W. Oakland Park Blvd. Baptist Health paid $13.75 million for the parcel, which was owned by the town.
The hospital will include an emergency department, imaging services, critical care, a surgery suite, a laboratory, diagnostics, respiratory therapy, an accessory pharmacy, and medical offices for consultations and outpatient procedures. It will be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Sunrise is a city of about 97,000 people. It is home to Sawgrass Mills Shopping Mall, various business parks, and Amerant Bank Arena, a 20,000-seat entertainment venue that is home to the National Hockey League’s Florida Panthers team.
