Closed since 2019, Pier Sixty-Six Resort will reopen in mid-November. Set on 32 acres along Fort Lauderdale’s Intracoastal Waterway, Pier Sixty-Six Resort will return with 325 guest rooms and suites, including two- and three-bedroom villas.
Tavistock Development Company is helming the $1 billion redevelopment project. The company hired three South Florida-based architecture and design firms to renovate the property, including HKS Architects and NELSON Worldwide of Coral Gables and Garcia Stromberg of West Palm Beach.
Originally built in the late 1960s, Pier Sixty-Six will reopen with its unique amenities, such as a 13,000-square-foot superyacht marina with 164 deepwater slips for yachts up to 400 feet.
Other attractions at the resort include the 15,000-square-foot Zenova spa (set to open in winter), fitness center, multi-level pool and snow room. Twelve culinary venues will be open throughout Pier Sixty-Six. The destination’s well-known rotating Pier Top lounge on the 17th floor of the observation deck will be restored. Pier Sixty-Six began as a fuel dock for Phillips 66 Petroleum in the 1950s.
