B & B Hotels has picked up The Onyx Hotel Miami Airport for $16.2 million and will rebrand it. The six-story hotel, which is currently a Holiday Inn Express, totals 54,027 square feet and will be rebranded as the B&B Hotel Miami Airport. Onyx Hospitality sold the 110-room property at 5125 N.W. 36st Street. Bluebird Credit provided a $11 million loan to the buyer.
It was built on the 1.11-acre site in 1986. This is the first time it has sold.
The S. Florida Business Journal reports Ahmed Kabani and Luis Garino of Kabani Hotel Group brokered the deal, which amounted to $147,272 per room.
B&B Hotels specializes in investing in affordable properties and has over 770 hotels in 17 countries. This acquisition, along with another one in Orlando, is the company’s first foray into the US market.
