Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport will soon be welcoming a new fixed-base operator. Fontainebleau Aviation plans to build a nearly 100,000-square-foot hangar, 10,000-square-foot terminal and over 25,000 square feet of office and lobby space.
The S. Florida Business Journal reports that the company has begun to sell FLL hangar space to private and corporate aircraft owners who want to protect their planes from the elements when parked. The company is also selling airport office space.
FLL said Fontainebleau Aviation’s $31 million project is expected to be completed by early 2025. It will have a hangar that measures over 98,000 square feet and a terminal that measures over 9,000 square feet.
With over 700 daily flights to 135 domestic and international destinations, FLL has become an intercontinental gateway since the late 1990s, although Miami International Airport still handles most long-haul flights. FLL is a primary airport for the Fort Lauderdale, Pompano Beach, Coral Springs, and Boca Raton areas.
