Presidente Supermarket Headed to Southplace City Center Project

Urban Retail Properties announces it has signed a 15-year lease agreement with Presidente Supermarkets as the anchor of the first residential tower as Southland Mall evolves into Southplace City Center. The S. Florida Business Journal reports the supermarket will be an anchor tenant in an eight-story building that’s being constructed this summer. The 350-unit tower will be built on the former Sears site.

Developed over seven years, Southland City Center will have 5,000 apartment units, over 500,000 square feet of retail, dining and entertainment venues in the existing mall, another 150,000 square feet of new retail and restaurant space on the outparcels, a 150-room hotel, and 60,000 square feet of medical office space. The new center is expected to include Macy’s, JCPenney, LA Fitness, Regal Theater, DSW and Old Navy.

Presidente Supermarkets is a privately held company established in 1990 that currently operates dozens of stores in Florida.
