Banco Santander wants to demolish its current 14-story office building and build a 40-story one in Miami’s Brickell district. The bank acquired the property for $114 million in 2008.
Santander Tower would total 1.5 million square feet. The 40-story tower would reach to 765 feet. It would feature 612,918 square feet of office space on floors 11 through 40, with floor plates ranging from 13,800 to 20,800 square feet. It would have 107,953 square feet of retail/restaurant space on the first seven floors, plus an “urban club” on the 10th floor. The amenity areas would include a large deck on the seventh floor, an expansive conference center on the sixth floor, and a sky lobby on the 29th floor. There would be 1,496 parking spaces.
The S. Florida Business Journal reports there’s been a surge of office leasing in Brickell in recent years as companies flock to Miami from other states. That has pushed rents to record highs and led to new office construction.
