The Newport Beachside Hotel & Resort was once the destination for stars from Sammy Davis Jr. and Tina Turner to Jimi Hendrix and Led Zeppelin.
The 10-story resort is changing its name to The Sunny and will temporarily shut down for a $42 million renovation. It’s set to re-open its doors in late 2024.
The makeover will be led by HB Capital Group. North Bridge arranged a loan for the revamp. HB Capital said it will upgrade its ocean-facing pier restaurant, Sandbar at Newport Pier, to become an upscale dining destination. Plans also six other food and beverage options, an oceanfront pool, an integrated pool and beach club, and fire pits.
EoA Group has been hired to work on the renovation.
Rooms at The Sunny will start from $450 per night.
