Hialeah Truck Lot Owner to Convert Property to Apartments

Gimrock Property acquired a 10-acre truck parking lot in Hialeah for $3.85 million in 2017. Gimrock now wants to change course and build a 239-unit apartment community on the property. First off, the Miami City Council has to agree to change the zoning from industrial to one allowing apartment construction. The S. Florida Business Journal reports the site is in a largely industrial part of the city, but it’s a few minutes west of Interstate 75.

Gimrock is asking for the zoning to be changed from “industrial district” to “mixed-use multiple-family district.” The developer plans to construct seven buildings of three stories each, plus a pool, a clubhouse and 538 parking spaces. The project would have 71 one-bedroom units, 138 two-bedroom units, and 30 three-bedroom units.
