Foster + Partners has revealed designs for a new mixed-use building, The Alton, in the heart of Miami Beach. Developed by SHVO, the six-story building will include ground-floor retail, two parking and residential levels, three floors of office space, and rooftop gardens. It is located on Alton Road, an arterial road that runs the length of Miami Beach, at an intersection with Lincoln Road, the city’s iconic shopping street known for its heavy pedestrian traffic.
Shvo has obtained final approval from the city for the building which will consist of 170,000 square feet of rentable office space and 17,000 square feet of ground-floor retail. There would also be five large condos on the top floor and about 181 parking spaces. It would be located on the 1.38-acre site at 1656 to 1698 Alton Road, plus 1677 West Avenue.
The project is a partnership between Michael Shvo and Germany-based Deutsche Finance America, which acquired the property for $39.2 million in 2022.
The developer aims to break ground in early 2024.
