Westdale Properties, King Street Capital Management and Cedar Capital Partners are combining to give Shelbourne South Beach an $85 million facelift. The 14-story hotel was built in 1940. The 251-room oceanfront property sits in Miami Beach’s Art Deco Historic District. Located on 1801 Collins Avenue in Miami Beach, its guest rooms, restaurants, lobby, pool deck, cabanas and meeting and event spaces will be redesigned. The ownership group paid $120 million for the hotel in 2020.
When the multimillion-dollar revamp is complete, Shelborne South Beach will be managed by Proper Hospitality, a California-based boutique hotel operator. The Miami Beach hotel will be Proper’s first Florida property.
It’s expected to reopen in early 2025.
